Phyllis Anne Cutrer, 1956-2020

It is with a heavy heart that I pass along the news of the passing of Phyllis Anne Cutrer on November 5, 2020. Phyllis was an AWSA Senior Slalom, Trick, and Jump Judge, and she was a dedicated member of and asset to the South Central Region.

Phyllis Anne Cutrer was born on February 23, 1956 and made her transition in her home in Houston, Texas on November 5, 2020. She died from complications from cancer. She was lovingly known as Yaya, Mom, Sissy, syphilis (you read that right!), badass, twisted sister…. She was adored by many including her high school posse and best friends, her water ski family, her UH Cougar tailgating family, her Kinder-Morgan family, the Kolbe and Cutrer families, and so, so many more. Anyone that met Phyllis became an instant friend. She knew no strangers. She partied her first 2-years of college at SW Texas University (now Texas State University), and came home to the University of Houston to graduate in Accounting. She worked for 32 years with Kinder-Morgan, where she was one of the original employees when KM split from Enron. She was also a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and a beloved member of the South Central Region of the American Water Ski Association.

She is survived by her son and his family, Steven Cummings, Lauren Guillet, Neveah ‘Monie’ and Ronan, her sister Jan Cutrer and her children Julle and Jace Cutrer-McCarthy, her sister Gale White, and her husband Doug, and her dogs and best friends Maurice and Phil. She was predeceased by her parents Betty Sauer and Edward Sitman Cutrer, and siblings Carol and Stephen Cutrer.

Please share pictures and stories of Phyllis on her Facebook group Phyl’s Update (https://www.facebook.com/groups/305920483338503), or consider sharing stories at her service. Just request access for her Facebook group if you don’t already have it.

With the current pandemic in place, no formal services are scheduled at this time, but Phyllis' life will be celebrated in the hearts of family and friends and her memory will live on always. Please revisit this site where service details will be added in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to one, Foundation for Women’s Cancer, St. Peters UCC or Unity of The Woodlands. You can leave a message for the family VIA THIS LINK. Our prayers go out to all of Phyllis' family members and friends.
